The Challenge.

The National 3 peaks challenge comprises of climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales, all in 24 hours. The mountains are as follows; Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Mount Snowdon in Wales.

During your National 3 Peaks Challenge, you will walk about 36km, climb over 3000m (and come down again) and drive over 450 miles.

In order to complete the challenge in 24 hours, each mountain has a set time limit which will need to be adhered to. Therefore, participants should be reasonably fit and active as this is a strenuous event. You need to be comfortable walking in the mountains to complete the 3 Peaks Challenge in 24 hours. Mountain weather is very changeable, and you should be happy walking in poor conditions as well as on uneven ground.

The aim is to complete Ben Nevis in 5 hours (during daylight), Scafell Pike in 4 hours (during the night) and Mount Snowdon in 4 hours (during the early hours of the following morning).
